46% of jobs in Latin America are informal (+130 million people). The informal economy precludes the governments from collecting employment taxes and excludes informal workers from employee protection programs such as pension plans and social security.
The “On Demand Industry” proliferation is the greatest opportunity the world has ever seen to incorporate the informal workers into society by bringing transparency and standardizing the informal job market. In countries with high impunity, a regular criminal check is not sufficient given that the majority of crimes go unpunished. Therefore, enhanced security checks are necessary. Current solutions are not scalable.
Criminals represent a very small portion of population. Members of local communities know exactly who the criminals in their communities are.
The solution is a digital tool that will allow informal workers to create working teams by self-selecting its members. After created, the team will seek approval from a verified community leader, and its members will apply for on demand job postings. Members of the team will be held accountable for each other’s behaviors, similar to the “group lending model” used in microfinance.
